Debrah L. Roemisch
I am a Registered Jin Shin Do® Acupressurist and an Authorized Jin Shin Do® Teacher. I am Nationally Certified in Asian Bodywork Therapy through the NCCAOM® (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine)
“Jin Shin Do” means “The Way of the Compassionate Spirit.” Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® uses gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points and verbal Body Focusing techniques, to help release “armoring” or chronic tension, balance the “Qi” or energy, and improve vitality. This clothes-on method helps relieve stress- and trauma- related problems. A unique synthesis of a traditional Japanese acupressure technique, classic Chinese acupressure and acupuncture theory,Taoist philosophy, Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques), Reichian segmental theory and principles of Ericksonian psychotherapy, it is recognized as a major form of Asian Bodywork Therapy (by AOBTA®, NCCAOM®, NCBTMB, and the U.S. Department of Education, among others). Originated by psychotherapist Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, Jin Shin Do® Acupressure promotes a pleasant trancelike state, in which one can relax and move out of the head and into the body, accessing feelings and inner wisdom. Generally a “local point” in a tense area is held together with related “distal points” which, though distant from the tense area, help it to release because of functional and energetic relationships.
Massage Therapy: I am an Indiana Certified Massage Therapist (Indiana requires state certification rather than licensing). I have studied various modalities of massage and bodywork and utilize what works best for you! Clients often comment that my pressure is "just right" --not too hard and not too soft!
Professional Associations: I am a member of the AOBTA (American Association of Bodywork Therapies of Asia) and the ABMP (Association of Bodywork and Massage Professionals).
Herbalist: I completed a 360 hour certificate program through the Heart of Herbs Herbal School (there is no national certification or state licensing for herbalism in the USA). I have an Indiana retail license and offer several herbal products for sale to my clients.
I have studied and practiced various holistic health methods since 1978, including: Western massage, deep muscle release, Shiatsu, Macrobiotic philosophy and cooking, natural foods, herbal remedies, various forms of yoga, Taiji Quan, Qigong, and Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure®—which is my specialty. I completed my training to be a Jin Shin Do® Acupressurist in 1994 and then in March, 2000, I completed all of the requirements to be an Authorized Jin Shin Do® Teacher. I passed NCCAOM's national certification exam to become a Dipl.ABT(NCCAOM)® in October, 2003 (one of only two in Indiana).
I will discuss with you what your expectations are and what modalities you are interested in. Also, I utilize my experience with different modalites to teach you techniques to take home with you to enhance your relaxation and/or pain relief, so you will feel good for a much longer time! I look forward to working in partnership with you!

Comment from a student who has completed the Advanced level:
"I experienced some of the most profound emotional and physical healing of my life in Debrah's acupressure workshops."
Comment from a client:
"I have had massages from other therapists, but I really love Deb's unique combination of acupressure and massage--her "magic" fingers always find the points that release my pain and tension. Also, my profession requires nurturing others and I need to be nurtured too! I find that Deb's treatments help in fulfilling that need. And even more than that--I really appreciate her willingness to teach me stress reducing techniques to use at home."

“Traditional Asian healing and philosophy views body, mind and spirit as one inseparable unity and from this holistic perspective, good health and happiness are the result of free flowing, balanced energy--when I work with clients it is always with the recognition of this".
“Working on the body, paying attention to the mind and honoring the spirit is an integral part of the work that I do.”
